Today’s Word With Joel & Victoria Osteen – This One Thing

on March 13, 2017

“…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Philippians 3:13, NLT

Are you focused on forgetting the past? Many people don’t fully understand what that means. They wonder, “How can I forget something that’s happened to me?” But one definition of the word forget is to “disregard intentionally or to overlook.” What this verse is saying is that you have to choose to disregard your past so that it doesn’t keep you from moving forward. That means the good and the bad. Even our past victories can sometimes keep us from rising higher. If we don’t let go of the old, we’ll never be able to embrace the new.

It doesn’t matter what’s happened in your history, it’s time to forget what lies behind. Make the choice today to look forward. Trust that God has a better future in store for you. Trust that He’s working behind the scenes on your behalf. As you forget what lies behind and press forward, you will see the abundant life the Lord has in store for you!

“Father, I choose to forget the past today. I don’t want anything to hold me back from the good future You have prepared for me. I choose forgiveness and ask that You help me by Your Spirit to press forward in every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I keep failing to let go my past. I keep trying to resist my temptations and as soon as I do they come back..alcohol,drugs,and women lure my world. I have a girlfriend which I love but just when we accept God in our lives and are working things out I push her away thinking in my heart, God wants my attention fully. Then I fell to temptation now i lost her.

I’m so thankful for your daily devotions on my phone, I’m facing a hard road with my son in jail on his way to prison. He’s my best friend and I miss him so, I give my heart and soul to God everyday, praying to keep him safe and home soon as possible. I’ve learned to forgive along time ago, now I just need help to stay positive. Thank you so much…..have a blessed and wonderful day

Amen, this message is so timely. I pray to God everyday to help my family members to forget the pass. I also have some former colleague who needs to hear this message. I thank God for your ministry.

Wow! This hit home! I have been having issues to forget the past. About a month ago. My kids lost their father. My ex husband. Him and myself have been friends till his very end. I have been drinking everyday because I lost my friend. He was the only who would listen to me. All the way down to asking him to return to Christ. It’s hard to get back into the mode of things because we lost someone so dear and loved. Our kids (now grown) like to believe that their father left this world, asking God for forgiveness. Now their momma needs prayer Joel. And to return back to church. So after reading the verse in Philipians, I am going to try and move forward. And wait upon God Almighty. I’m tired of the old me and want to see God one day. I don’t want to mess this up again. Keep me in prayer. Thank u.
